Abstract
Women's sexual function is highly influenced by periodic hormonal fluctuation during the entire reproductive life span and under hormonal manipulations. The early recognition in clinical practice of peculiar conditions of sexual vulnerability during the female biological cycle, mainly related to hypoestrogenic states or aberrations of the androgenic milieu, is a primary task of the gynecologist that should play a central role in the diagnosis, prevention, and eventually in the treatment of female sexual symptomatology.
