Abstract

The effects upon the enteric mucosa, liver and pancreas of normal and bled rats induced by methotrexate administered in one dose are reported. In normal rats, notwithstanding the severe enteric lesions, gross histological modifications of the liver and pancreas are absent. In rats made anemic by bleeding, the liver damage is marked with a diffuse fatty metamorphosis which reaches a peak at 48 hr after drug administration; in the pancreas there was only a pattern of mild cellular toxicity.
