Abstract
This paper proposes a standardization of diagnostic procedures of primary amoebic meningo encephalitis (P.A.M.E.). The authors critically reviewed the main morphologic, biologic and ultrastructural 'markers' at hand for a precise diagnostic identification of 'free living' limax amoebae of the Acanthamoeba Naegleria group causing P.A.M.E. in man.
