Abstract
Retrospective analysis of the preoperative polytomographic examinations performed in 96 patients with acquired cholesteatoma of the middle ear (who underwent surgery) was carried out. Our retrospective study confirms the reliability of the classic polytomographic findings of the cholesteatoma (i.e. destructive changes of the inferior spur and ossicles) and points out the existence of borderline cases in which the differential diagnosis with chronic otitis media is uncertain.
