We reviewed our material and literature reports to establish the epidemiology and origin, clinical and histological aspects and mainly the CT and MR features of olfactory neuroblastoma or aesthesioneuroblastoma. Our aim was to devise an exhaustive pretreatment staging of the tumour to plan an appropriate therapeutic strategy and long-term assessment of treatment. We report the latest trends in surgical, radio and chemotherapeutic management which have enhanced the prognosis of patients with olfactory neuroblastoma. We retrospectively reviewed 49 CT scans and 18 MR scans of the sinonasal regions in 34 patients with tumours confirmed at histology over the last five years. Clinical, morphological and histolopathological correlations were drawn in seven patients with olfactory neuroblastoma and pretreatment staging devised on the basis of the spatial tumour extension. An appropriate treatment was selected, including combined surgical, radio and chemotherapy and the outcome of management monitored over time with periodic CT and MR follow-up scans to restage the long-term evolution of the tumour.
