Abstract

Myotonic dystrophy is the most prevalent muscle dystrophy affecting adults and children. Congenital myotonic dystrophy is difficult to diagnose when the mother is asymptomatic because early biopsy is not typical. We report on a child whosemuscle biopsy was suggestive of minicore disease. Correct diagnosis was possible only when the patient was 9 years old and his mother was found to be affected by myotonic dystrophy.
