Neural network application in aluminium hot-roll process

Abstract

The use of ANN (artificial neural network) for the modeling of a complex non-linear, multi-dimensional map is exploited with the aluminium hot roll process. The ANN offers non-parametric modeling capabilities encountered in using parametric non-linear model. The availability of a reliable model of the rolling process enabled an automated procedure for the production of scheduling to be realized. This procedure eliminates the need for long trial and error optimisation procedures, in which the human experience has a crucial role.
