Abstract

The authors review some of the most recent data concerning the neurochemical, immunological and ultrastructural aspects of experimental epilepsy. They point out the importance of considering, in the etiopathogenesis of experimental models of epilepsy, the 'dynamic' interaction among different pathological brain modifications (peculiar of each model). Such 'dynamic' considerations do not exclude the existence of a main etiopathological event in the development of epileptic discharge, but it seems to be more important for the maintenance of electroclinic patterns of epilepsy.
