Neurophysiological evaluation of neuromuscolar disorders in newborns and children shares some common features with same disorders of the adults. Nonetheless at the same time other specific features shall be considered as almost peculiar of the infancy. Specific aspects of the clinical neurophysiology of the pediatric age involve equipment settings, dedicated electrodes, special methods to carry out the neurophysiologic test, knowledge of anatomy and physiology of peripheral nervous system and the muscles maturation processes, physiopathological features the neuromuscular diseases. There are other specific topics to be considered with great details such as the understanding of the national law, the clinical pictures of the floppy infant and the differential diagnosis, neurophysiology of the neuromuscular transmission and techniques for repetitive nerve stimulation, finally the differential diagnosis of the congenital myasthenia.
