Abstract
In 12 patients with an algo-dystrophic syndrome of the shoulder, during the course of hemiplegia of vascular origin an evaluation was made of the possibility of using a temporal band of analgesia created by a portable electronic pain control equipment in order to improve scapulo-humeral ABD passive movement articularity by breaking the onset of the positive feedback, triggered by pain, between impaired function and immobility. The results obtained appear to confirm that in a significant number of cases the rapid and undoubted increase in articular performances was mediated by a definite reduction in scapulo-humeral (S-H) pain, obtained by means of a portable electronic pain control equipment designated E.P.C.
