Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is the most common and most extensively studied of the age-related hematologic malignancies. Results of the literature evcidence that older and younger patients with NHL have comparable response to chemotherapy if receive the same treatment. Comprehensive geriatric assessment is necessary to evaluate the real functional status of elderly patients, and to evaluate the relationship betveen comorbidity and survival after decision treatment of NHL. The profilactic use of G-CSF reduces the incidence, severity, and duration of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, thereby helping maintain adeguate dose intensity, whereas reliance on chemotherapy delays and dose reductions to manage the occurences of neutropenia compromises the dose intensity.
