The biology of the T cell cytokines Interleukin (IL-)17 and IL-22 has been a main focus in the field of clinical immunology in the last decade. This intensive interest in both cytokines resulted in almost 5,000 scientific publications ( dealing with the molecular structure, extra- and intracellular signaling pathways, specific transcription factors and the function of IL-17 and IL-22. This review article highlights the main findings concerning IL-17 and IL-22 in the last years.
