Purpose of this research is the nutritional assessment of patients of the Intensive Care Unit, in parenteral and enteral nutrition. 33 patients were studied (25 males, 8 females, average age 45.7 yr), affected by cranio-cerebral pathology (25 brain strokes, 8 cerebrovascular injuries), divided in two groups according to the result (20 alive, 13 dead). Haematocrit, haemoglobin, total protein, albumin, prealbumin, transferrin, ceruloplasmin and retinol binding protein were determined in every patient. Significant differences were founded, between the two groups of patients, for the following parameters: haematocrit, albumin, prealbumin and retinol binding protein. Haematocrit, haemoglobin, albumin, prealbumin and transferrin showed significant differences at least inside of one of two groups. Total proteins and ceruloplasmin didn't show significant differences between the two groups and inside of each group of patients.
