Abstract

COPD patients commonly report functional limitation and breathlessness for arm activities. The target of improving functional capacity and return-to-work in rehabilitation patients can be obtained with specific training. Functional rehabilitation techniques are now supported by available devices that can simulate specific job tasks and measure mechanical parameters. Methods. Eight COPD patients simulated a preferred daily or job task on a WorkSET dynamometer (Lido Loredan, Davis, CA). Admission criteria were: stabilized COPD for at least 1 month, age 1/FVC 2 >60 mmHg, PaCO2
