Abstract

Notwithstanding the high relevance of the environmental impact of landfill, there are few studies on the characterisation and processing of organic pollutants in landfills. The main reasons for this are the higher complexity of organic pollutant analysis, compared to that for inorganic pollutants, and the confidentiality of the studies that have been conducted. In the present paper we summarise studies performed in the field, with particular attention to the methodologies, and pollutants identified.
