Abstract
The present manuscript reviews outpatient treatment of bulimia nervosa, using a clinicopragmatic approach. A standard treatment is described which can be applied to most of the cases, and a series of other treatment types (for resistant forms, multi-treated patients, subsyndromic forms, infantile and adolescent forms) are also presented. The issue of diagnosis formulation is discussed as it is central to planning of the therapeutical program. The authors suggest devising standardized therapeutical protocols which can be flexibly applied to various typologies of bulimic patients.
