Abstract

Thyroid has been found in 26 out of 239 mature teratomas of the ovary (11%); it represented the main tissue (struma ovarii) in 6 tumors. Signs of hyperthyroidism were not recorded in any patient. One struma ovarii with extensive stromal luteinization and squamous metaplasia caused endometrial hyperplasia.
