IDDM is a chronic degenerative disease that is responsible of long-term complications, in particular the coronary artery disease and nephropathy, that have a high incidence of mortality. Presently, pancreatic transplantation (PT) is the only reliable treatment that effects consistent euglycemia. One of the key elements of a successful for pancreas transplant is the patient selection. Three major duct management techniques in pancreas transplantation are currently used: polymer duct obstruction (DO), bladder diversion (BD), and enteric diversion (ED). Thrombosis and pancreas exocrine secretions related complications are, essentially, the main problems.
