Photoaging represents the most common skin pathology. Skin stimulated by electromagnetic radiation, namely UV band, undergoes degenerative effects in all its structrures, ie. epidermis, dermis, vessels. Epidermis is the most damaged structure by UV radiations and during senescence it goes through degenerative neoplastic processes as actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma. These three neoplastic entities together represent the most frequent non-melanoma skin cancer in human beings. From now on it was calculated that 1 out of 3 subjects will develop one or more skin tumors during his life span. The second cause of skin tumors is considered ionizing radiations utilized for therapeutic purpose. The conventional therapy of either photo or radio induced skin cancer is the surgical approach. Recently photodynamic therapy was proposed either in place or together with surgical treatment. The expanding use of photodynamic therapy in dermatology at many centers around the world has revealed its efficacy for the treatment of cutaneous precancer and cancer.
