Abstract
Background. The effectiveness of Deus 2000 RK, technical instrument for selective UVB phototherapy, on stable plaque psoriasis was evaluated. Methods. 20 patients (13 males and 7 females) aged between 29 and 69 (mean age 50 years), affected by stable psoriasis vulgaris, were enrolled. All topical or systemic therapies were discontinued for the last 4 weeks. Psoriasis was evaluated according to psoriasis activation and severity index (PASI). Treatment was scheduled following these two modalities: a high dosage UVB phototherapy and a total body irradiation. UVB phototherapy was emitted by a UVB radiation converging system for treating single psoriatic plaques. Treatment was scheduled 5 times a week and after 1 week of interruption 2-3 times a week, untilrecovery. Total body irradiation is produced by a dynamic multiple generator system (Photodinamic Round System RK) which selects specific wavelengths and delivers both UVB and UVA radiations. Results. 4 out of 20 patients (20%) achieved complete clearing (>80%), 7 out of 20 (35%) obtained partial recovery (>50%), 6 out of 20 patients (30%) showed a slight improvement (
