Abstract

We describe five cases of cutaneous piloleiomyoma, a benign cutaneous tumor of the smooth muscle cells; they may occur as a single nodule or as multiple nodules involving large areas of the body. These nodules can be exquisitely painful to any change in pressure or temperature. They generally appear in the adolescence; the clinical picture is quite polymorphous and the histologic examination is often required for a correct diagnosis.
