Abstract
A case of plasma-cell balanitis (Zoon) is reported. The disease is uncommon in Italy, where only a few cases have been described. Males are affected more frequently than females. The causes of this condition are not clear and any treatment may temporarily suppress but not cure the disease. The authors stress the need of differential diagnosis with erythroplasia of Queyrat, a condition difficult to differentiate on clinical grounds, but potentially malignant since it represents an intraepithelial carcinoma.
