Abstract

Antihypertensive efficacy of a 4-week single-blind therapy with potassium canrenoate and chlorthalidone was evaluated in ten mild or moderate essential hypertensives. Both drugs significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure and the decrease in blood pressure induced by the two treatments was not statistically different. Moreover, the two drugs induced comparable effects on the different biohumoral and hemodynamic parameters considered. No side effect was caused by the two different treatments.
