N2 - In the close relatives of patients with POAG, the mean IOP is higher than in normal population, outflow facility is reduced, increased IOP in response to topical corticosteroids is more frequent. Therefore the authors have used the provocative test with ibopamine in 36 subjects with normal IOP, close relatives of patients with POAG, in 25 patients with POAG and in 20 subjects with normal IOP without family history for POAG. Ibopamine test in the close relatives of patients with POAG has proved to be positive in a very low percentage of cases (8.3%), so that they would not suggest its use for the evaluation of the risk of hydrodynamic disorders in this population.
