Abstract
Some reasons are put forward which may explain the convulsive symptomatology as a functional disturbance. A selection of 27 patients is examined, aged between 8 and 13, of whom 11 are epileptic with mixed attacks and 16 with exclusively functional pseudo-convulsive attacks which present different psychopathological aspects. The prognosis is correlated to the basic psychopathological structure (neuroses, prepsychoses, psychoses). The methods of psychotherapeutic treatment used for the different categories of patients are described: corrective 'pedagogic' treatment for children with simple reactive conditions, 'interpretative' therapy for subjects with depressive symptoms relational experience of identification for adolescents with hysterical or prepsychotic states.
