Abstract
The authors have quantified the surfaces treated with Wolfe and Thiersch free skin grafts in 51 patients who had been operated for reconstructive surgery. The areas operated included articular and non articular surfaces, situated in the head, neck, superior and inferior limbs and hands. After six months the grafted areas were measured and the values compared with those obtained in the immediate postoperatory. It was thus possible to quantify the functional and cosmetic superiority of Wolfe vs. Thiersch skin grafts. However the problem of the scarce availability of Wolfe grafts remains to be solved.
