Abstract
Preliminary results of a study aimed at reassessing the significance of plasma level measurements of antiepileptic drugs in children are reported; twenty-five patients with recently diagnosed epilepsy, never treated before entered this prospective study. Seizure control was achieved with subtherapeutic plasma AED levels in 9 patients and with levels at the lowest limit of the therapeutic range in 7 other patients out of the 21 in whom was obtained complete control of seizures.
