Red cell ferritin as a diagnostic tool

Abstract

Red cell ferritin should not be used routinely in the laboratory workup of iron metabolism disorders, but in particular situations, it can provide information regarding the iron supply to the erythron and the size of parenchymal iron stores which serum ferritin and other conventional iron measurements can not.
