Region-based maximum likelihood reconstruction for lesion quantification in positron emission tomography

Abstract

An algorithm for the activity quantification inside PET oncological lesions is presented and preliminarily assessed on a sphere phantom. The strategy allows convergence to blurring recovery in the lesions avoiding noise amplification in the background.
