20 patients with a histological and clinical positive history for gluten intolerance were studied. In all patients ultrastructural study of the brush-border at the pseudoapical surface were done in an attempt to verify a correlation between blood xylose, clinical findings and the severity of ultrastructural damage, respectively. The data showed that from this point of view the correlations are not satisfied, so that the ultrastructural pattern of the damaged brush-border of the mucosa in gluten intolerance cannot be used as a perspective parameter.
