Relationship between lipolysis and storage of phenobarbital in adipose tissue

Abstract

Accumulation of phenobarbital in epididymal adipose tissue of rats has been studied in vivo and in vitro. Its accumulation in vivo was greater in fasted than in fed animals. In in vitro studies, the phenobarbital accumulation in adipose tissue was increased and the release was decreased when norepinephrine was present in the medium. It is suggested that a high degree of lipolysis affects storage of phenobarbital in adipose tissue.
