Abstract
By an experimental study on transcatheter embolization of the rat's kidney, the possibility to obtain a temporary embolization of the arterial renal bed by the use of autologous clots, simple or modified by tranexamic acid, was evaluated. Results clearly evidenced that the recovery level of the renal function after embolisation by clots is strictly tied to the time of lysis of the same clots and, therefore, to the quantity of the injected material for embolization. The time of induced warm ischemia causes an important loss of renal function, even if the re-vascularization is nearly complete.
