Abstract

We studied the natural history of non functioning pituitary adenomas in a series of patients who had undergone partial surgical debulking in our Centre. When a residual adenomalous tissue was demonstrated on post-operatory MRI, some of them were subjected to Gamma Knife Radiosurgery one year after the operation, whereas another group was followed with serial MR images and neuro-ophtalmologic evaluation. In our series GKRS has demonstrated to be effective in local tumor control and prevention of tumor recurrence.
