To the date of the submission of the present paper (april 8, 2003) only 4 case series of SARS have been published online (the papers will follow soon), which contain sufficient clinical details, in some cases incomplete, but such as to give the possibility of a first general evaluation of the new nosographic entity. Our knowlwdge on it is indeed still approximate, dated as they are less than one month from the first information on the epidemy and a little more than one week from the first of these coherent case series: this issue of GIMT so appears as an "instant book", but we think it is worthwhile to collect the first interesting contributions on such a phenomenon of great planetary interest. Furthermore this overlook on the first 208 published cases permits to evaluate consistence, case correspondence, clinical similarities and describe the several clinical peculiarities of a case directly observed by us, some of which indeed unusual (very short incubation and Hospital admission time, symptoms at onset, unusual xrays, signs of copathogen superinfection, immunocompromission, coexisting pleural effusion, transient symptom relapse after one week therapy).
