Abstract
The main components of the secretory IgA system are IgA and J chain, synthesized by local plasmacells, and secretory component (SC) which is a product of epithelial glandular cells. This system plays an important role in immunologic defense mechanisms against antigens of various type in the colon-rectum mucosa. The present study reports the results of the identification of IgA and SC by immunoperoxidase method in colon-rectum carcinoma. The results mainly show: a) occurrence of IgA and SC positivities in 86% and 80%, respectively, or carcinoma cases; b) a correlation between differentiation degree of carcinoma and immunohistochemical findings.
