Abstract
The focus of this review article is on the novel and challenging concepts that have emerged in the field of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Barrett's esophagus over the recent years. Lenglinger et al. (Wien Klin Wochenschr. 2013;125:577-590) have made an in-depth PubMed research on studies dealing with histopathology of nondysplastic columnar lined esophagus (CLE). The aim of the review is to summarize the current body of knowledge regarding the pathophysiology of nondysplastic CLE and its implications for the diagnosis and treatment of this preneoplastic condition.
