Abstract
Selective mutism is a psychiatric childhood disorder that is internationally classified as one of the social function disorders. There are very few studies that attempt to understand the psychopathology underlying this disorder. Through this case report, the authors show that the symptom may be the expression of a more complex personality disorder.
