Abstract

An open and controlled study on 100 patients who underwent traumatologic and orthopedic surgery was performed. The aim of this trial was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of short-term antibiotic prophylaxis with multiple doses of mezlocillin. Clinical and laboratory examinations prior to, during, and after surgery were performed. Patients underwent a six-month follow-up. Statistical analysis of the results and the lack of any early or later wound infection confirmed the efficacy of short-term chemoprophylaxis with mezlocillin in traumatologic and orthopedic surgery.
