Surgical exploration via a lombotomic access, unroofing of the cyst, drainage and hemostatic suturing of the cystic edge is carried out in treatment of symptomatic simple renal cysts. This kind of surgery is invasive and hospitalisation quite long; for this reason, several alternative and less invasive forms of treatment are being developed. Laparoscopy has recently enabled urologists to perform an easy, safe and less invasive procedure: the laparoscopic resection of cystic wall. Preliminary experience in 15 cases is reported in whom laparoscopic cholecystectomy was associated in 5 cases.
