Abstract

Background. The aim of this study was to evaluate ponderal status, anti-HbsAb antibody level, lipidic picture and respiratory function in children born in 1987 and living in the Health District 22 ASL BNI, Benevento. Methods. We calculated 129 children BMI (Body Mass Index) and we found that 0% was underweight, 66.67% were normally weighted and 33.33% were overweighted. Overweight children were divided into two groups: Group A consisted of 38 overweight children with BMI=26.82, Group B consisted of 5 obese children with BMI=32.99. Results. Pneumologic visit and spirometry showed that only a little percentage of the population (7.75%) had respiratory alteration. Lipidic status analysis showed that 12% of the child population had a higher concentration of circulating lipids if compared to upper normal limit values. Furthermore about 13% of studied children showed a low antibody level and for this a new vaccine injection was made. Conclusions. There is no link between antibody level and ponderal status.
