Abstract
The prolonged intestinal retention of a Watson biopsy capsule in a 12-year-old girl with chronic diarrhea is reported. Radiological investigation showed a duodenal obstruction due to superior mesenteric artery syndrome. A preliminary barium study of the upper gas trointestinal tract, before performing blind intestinal biopsies, may decrease the incidence of similar complications.
