Preliminary data on adoptive immunotherapy with TIL plus IL-2 performed after metastasectomy are reported. Seven patients with colorectal cancer, seven with melanoma and one with gastric cancer were treated. Following TIL reinfusion, the four patients with advanced disease progressed after 1, 1, 5 and 8 months. Eleven patients were disease free when TIL were reinfused. Seven are still disease free after 1, 3, 11, 14, 17, 19 months. Similarly to reports in the Literature, preliminary data would seem to confirm that this type of treatment is particularly indicated in minimal residual disease. Radical metastasectomy of potential immunological cancers, such as melanoma, colorectal and kidney cancer, can thus be the most appropriate for very high risk patients. Further confirmation of therapeutic efficacy will only be possible with longer follow-ups and a greater number of patients.
