Abstract
A survey is a study based on the interviewing of samples of a population. It is intended to gather data on the demographic characteristics of the sample and on the behaviour, knowledge, attitudes, beliefs of the individuals that compose it. This article defines the basic steps of surveying and briefly discusses how to identify its objects, design it, chose the sample, prepare a questionnaire, analyze and expose the results. Possible causes of bias are identified and suggestions are given in order to avoid them.
