Abstract
Peripheral T-lymphocyte subsets were measured in 112 patients suffering from alopecia areata of different degree, clinical type and stage: 58 patients (51.8%) had altered values of OKT4/OKT8 both in excess and defect. It was not possible to correlate these resuls with sex, age, extension, duration of disease; only the combined type of alopecia and the worsening phase were related to the most frequent alterations of OKT4/OKT8: 58% and 47% respectively. The data and the validity of this method for evaluating cellular immunity are discussed.
