The main studies in the field of primary and secondary glomerulonephritis concerned the treatment of membranous nephropathy, idiopathic nephrofic syndrome, IgA nephritis, lupus nephritis. Several studies have been conducted to prevent acute renal failure and to optimize the administration of erythropoietin to dialysis patients. In the area of kidney transplantation randomized trials have been conducted to explore the role of cyclosporine, monoclonal antibodies against the interleukin-2 receptors, and anti-TOR agents.
