Abstract

The authors describe the anatomical and pathological aspects of biopsy sampling, identifying as key starting point a close relationship between endoscopist and pathologist. At this element must be added the need for proper sampling depending on the organ and the pathology of the gastrointestinal tract to be examined, a correct orientation of biopsies based fundamentally on the use of filters of cellulose acetate prepared properly, and then appropriate clinical informations.
