We studied the anticonvulsant effects of Levetiracetam in a group of 50 patients who had to discontinue Topiramate treatment because of inefficacy, intolerability or both. All patients were affected by epileptic partial seizures with or without secondary generalization. A complete disappearance of the seizures was obtained by LEV mainly in TPM intolerant group but not in TPM resistant patients, thus demontrating that it is beffer tolerated but not more effective than TPM. The complete disappearance of the seizures and their reduction > 50% not appear linearly correlated with the increment of the LEV dose when administered in add on.
