Abstract
Approximately 200 cases of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome have so far been reported in the literature; lung involvement is infrequent and consists in diffuse interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, which is progressive and responds poorly to corticosteroids. The disease is especially common among Puerto Ricans and, to lesser extent, in North Europeans; to the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of a patient from the Mediterranean area.
