Two thousand consecutive EEGs of patients with hemispheric pathology have been examined in order to evaluate the lateralization of the abnormalities. Pathologic activity was found in 940 EEGs, 478 on the left and 200 on the right (p <0.001). The left prevalence was greater in the population with a lesser degree of neurologic impairment. A comparable degrees of neurologic impairment, the EEG abnormalities were more frequent in left hemisphere damage. Besides, a larger percentage of normal EEGs was found in right hemisphere damage. From our study the left hemisphere results electroencephalographically more expressive than the right one.
