Abstract
The Receiving Operator Characteristic (ROC) curve is a graphic way to help clinicians evaluate the utility of a diagnostic test, since it brings in evidence the cut off values with the best balance between sensitivity and specificity. The ROC curve may also be used to compare the yield of two different tests. Moreover, even diagnostic tests that express their results in qualitative terms (i.e. the reader's evaluation) can be evaluated employing this easy graphic instrument.
